    Description

Burma, Myanmar, Lacquerware vase with three chinthes.  It is from my parents estate and they left Burma in 1966.  EBay won't let me list Burma or Myanmar as the country of manufacture.  If I type it in, eBay erases it.  Decorated with three chinthes..  They use real gold on this vase hence the cost.  I think this vase was made of carefully woven fine bamboo and then coated many times with lacquer until it is smooth.  It is then thin gold is applied.  In the days of the Burmese kings, only the royalty and nobles were allowed to use lacquerware.  It is made at Pagan, the old Burmese Capital.  This vase is 7 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches in diameter.  Probably I am selling it for less than current price but I am 83 and need to get rid of stuff.
